One of the reasons health experts give walking rave reviews is because it’s a ‘lifestyle exercise’. That means you can usually make time for it without too much of a change to your daily routine. Walking to work, to the shops, or the final mile from the bus stop may take a little more time, but it’s definitely cheaper and possibly less daunting, than joining a gym.
Wellington Gate is being developed to include a range of brand new schools and amenities, linked to residential dwellings by attractive pedestrian routes and spaces. For most internal journeys within the site, walking will therefore be the natural choice.
Wellington Gate is also however within a reasonable walking distance of a wide range of existing amenities, schools, employment opportunities and services. Main Street in Grove is just 1km from the nearest new residential dwellings, a walk of just 16 minutes at an average pace. The centre of Wandsworth, whilst slightly further afield, can still be reached in just 21 minutes from the southern parts of the site.
